SDG 16 – Peace, Justice And Strong Institutions
Goal 16: Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
Global killings, violence against children, human trafficking and sexual violence must be addressed to promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development. They pave the way for enabling access to justice for all and building effective, accountable institutions at all levels.
While the incidence of murder and human trafficking has decreased significantly over the past decade, thousands of people are still at greater risk of premeditated murder in Latin America, sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. Children’s rights violations through aggression and sexual violence continue to plague many countries around the world, especially as lack of reporting and data exacerbate the problem.
Addressing these challenges and building a more peaceful, inclusive society requires more effective and transparent regulations and more comprehensive, realistic public budgets. One of the first steps to protect individual rights is to implement global birth registration and create more independent national human rights institutions around the world.

By 2030, the global homicide rate is projected to decrease by 19% from the 2015 level, to around 4.8 per 100,000 people, but still short of the “significant reduction” targeted in the SDGs.
